Cloud trends in 2019

The cloud is ever so prevalent, but it’s far from being done growing. There’s a lot more room for this technology to expand and improve itself. And in 2019 we may see yet another big rise in the cloud market. Things are changing in a quite interesting direction.

Plus, it’s the time of the year when analysts from everywhere start exploring the near future. So, we did a bit of research and found quite a few predictions. Here are some of the most interesting and common ones, which are shaping up to be the cloud trends in 2019:

Hybrid cloud

The Hybrid cloud has already had a good year. But it’s got a lot more to offer. In fact, the rise of the hybrid cloud solutions is pretty much the most common trend forecast of them all.

It’s no surprise. The hybrid cloud will grow not only in use, but also in the variety of solutions and services. The goal will be similar – to help companies find and tailor-make the exact services and solutions they need.

Diverse solutions

Speaking of more hybrid cloud solutions, there’s also going to be a lot more diversity in the overall cloud services field. Some, like Bain & Co., even expect big gains in subscription-based SaaS and a lot more new players in the game. This means competition will become even fiercer and will encompass new niches.

The winners will be the clients. They will have a lot more offers to choose from. 2019 is shaping up to be a very dynamic year for the cloud and customers can take advantage of this.

5G

These two letters seem to be everywhere these days. Well, get used to it, as the 5G craze is merely getting started. From 2019 onwards, the new generation of mobile networks will kick things up a notch or two and is going to become more and more important.

5G will also play a role for the cloud. The faster and more robust mobile networks will help telecoms offer edge computing services, it will enable the rise of IoT and it will make the use of cloud services even more of a no-brainer.

Security and backup

It won’t all be roses, though. There will be some thorns, too. One of them is security. As the use of cloud services continues to rise, so will the attention from hackers. Luckily, we can also expect a lot of new security advancements. The cloud allows providers to aggregate data and see faster and in greater detail what works and what needs to be improved.

Of course, cloud solutions are like any other – there’s no such thing as 100% safety, but the average level of security is quite high and continues to rise. In most cases, breaches will occur due to employee negligence and phishing rather than actual hacker “magic”.

Serverless computing

This is a relatively new trend, but it’s also gaining popularity. It basically allows customers to use PaaS and be charged as needed. There’s no need to rent actual servers or think about configuring anything. You just rent a ready-made platform for your needs along with some extra tools and services if necessary.

All of this means even easier access to platforms and services and things can be set up a lot more quickly. This will make such computing power and features more accessible to a bigger array of companies.
