5 uses for Artificial Intelligence in the Cloud

Artificial Intelligence and Cloud. Two terms which have become quite the buzz words over the pas few years. They are often accompanied by clichés like “world-changing”, “disruptive”, etc. But that’s normal, because it’s the truth.

Using clichés is a big no-no in the media world, but sometimes you just can’t get away from them. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Cloud will really change a lot in our world and day-to-day lives. These technologies are already doing that, but we’ve just scratched the surface of their power and potential.

Then there’s putting them together. AI and the Cloud can really benefit from each other. This “partnership” opens a lot of possibilities for a lot of companies to create and use various AI services in the Cloud. Here are just five of them.

Automating services

Currently many employees are stuck doing mundane and repetitive tasks. This can bring morale to a low and leads to burnout. AI can help by automating a lot of these tasks. As a result, it will free up the employees to do more engaging and interesting work. AI can automate pretty much everything – from customer support calls to the preparation of the regular performance reports, etc. And all of this can be run in the Cloud from everywhere.

Changing DevOps

Speaking of repetitive and automazing, DevOps is a prime example of this. DevOps is an important cog in lots of companies and it has to do a lot of stuff. It’s often stuck doing the same old, though. AI can help by not only automating repetitive tasks, but also by helping DevOps accelerate their work, be more creative and explore more opportunities. Plus, it can be set up in the Cloud to make both remote and collaborative work much easier.

Prediction

AI can also be the backbone of Cloud services. It can help services predict the behavior of their users and customers better. Knowing what your customers would do can be vital. Prediction can go a long way in improving cybersecurity as well. Hackers use automated tools more and more, too. AI can help make cybersecurity defences proactive instead of reactive.

Analysis

In today’s world data can be king, but also a slayer. It’s easy to get overwhelmed with the huge amounts of data you can collect for each aspect of your business. And if you read the data wrong, then you can destroy your company in a blink of an eye. And there is more “good news” – the amount of data will only get bigger, especially with the development of the Internet of Things (IoT). Using AI and machine learning can make analyzing and sorting the data much quicker and easier.

Personalization

Then we come to another important feature. Most people don’t realize just how much of the services they use on a daily basis is actually personalized by algorithms. Adding better AI to this can transform these services even more. From automatic email replies with context to knowing exactly how to change the entire interface of a service to suit individual preferences. AI can personalize services better and offer an improved experience.

Bonus: AI-as-a-Service

All of this sounds lovely, but there’s a catch. It can be really expensive to have all of these possibilities, setting up IT infrastructure, etc. The Cloud allows for providers to offer AI services to smaller businesses and on per-case basis. This way even local shops could pay a few bucks a month to get AI analytics for their sales, for example. Sometimes even the angle in which a product is displayed on the shelf can make or break its sales. And companies can subscribe only for the services they need, optimizing their expenses. Ironically or not, AI could help them choose the exact services they need, too.

All of this is already happening. It won’t be a big announcement changing everything. Instead, one day (which isn’t that far away) we will just look back and see how much things have evolved.
